downlookingup replied to your photo: Roald Dahl’s The Witches has some deliciously… I’m intermittingly reading “Boy” and it’s just so lovely. Nice! I actually got the edition that’s bundled with Going Solo the same day I got my copy of The Witches, so I’ll be reading it soon as well.

What a wonderful kind of day.
I am currently making breakfast whilst watching Arthur on PBS. I love this show. I mean, you guys, Neil Gaiman was in an episode. Of course I love this show. Also: I am slightly hungover. Just slightly. Honest. And you know what? I don’t know if any of this makes me a slightly childish and immature sort of 23-year-old, or just an average and typical one. I honestly can’t tell the...

dictionaryofobscuresorrows: n. [Brit. wallesia] a condition characterized by scanning faces in a crowd looking for a specific person who would have no reason to be there, which is your brain’s way of checking to see whether they’re still in your life, subconsciously patting its emotional pockets before it leaves for the day. Seriously, someone give the guy behind this tumblelog a book deal...

Pirates of the Caribbean: The People's Court
Me: Oh, hey, Pirates of the Caribbean.
Dad: Watch it with me.
Me: Sure.
Dad: This is, what, the second one?
Me: Dead Man's Chest, yeah.
Dad: That Jack guy is pretty funny.
Me: He is pretty funny.
Dad: This is a weird movie.
Me: I guess so.
Dad: Oh. Commercials. Hang on, I'm watching this other thing too. [He changes channel.]
Me: The People's Court?
Dad: Yeah.
Me: Um. Okay. What are they in court for?
Dad: Well, that old lady there is suing the other guy because her refrigerator stopped working after he supposedly did some repairs on it.
Me: Huh. Seems like a silly reason to sue someone.
Dad: Well, he didn't do his job properly.
[A couple of minutes pass. Dad is still transfixed.]
Me: Are we seriously watching this?
Dad: It's The People's Court.
Me: This is a weird show.
Dad: I guess so.

I finished reading John Green’s Looking for Alaska last night. This is relevant. Favorites! “Waiting, are they? Well, let ‘em wait!” — Ethan Allen, after his doctor told him, “General, I fear that the angels are waiting for you.” “Applaud, my friends, the comedy is finished.” — Ludwig van Beethoven “I should never have switched from Scotch...
